With a half stack you have an amplifier head and a cabinet that is rated to work well with the amp – a great amplifying system. So when do you need to add another cabinet to make a full stack? Some people say never – that all you’ll ever need is one cabinet.
In some cases a mini combo amp is all people use for practice and even small shows. Stacks also come in mini and micro sizes, so that even if you need to be concerned with sound levels not bothering others while you are practicing, a full stack is an option now even for practicing at home.
