A stack is a pre-built amplifier system that includes the amplifier head and also one or more separate cabinet speakers. A stack with one cabinet is usually referred to as a half stack, and two cabinets included is called a full stack.
Buying a stack that has been put together by a popular manufacturer usually ensures that the pieces works together nicely. Stacks allow you to add more speakers or heads later, and use different equipment for different purposes.
