A cabinet is an amplifier without a head. It basically holds the speaker and is responsible for producing the sound after it’s been amplified.
While the head lets you adjust things like the volume, gain, and levels, the cabinet speaker does nothing but output that sound.
Cabinet speakers come in different sizes and power ratings (wattage) and can sound different when paired with different amplifier heads.
